Kevin Hotaling is ...
Dedicated to Transparency
Unlike some other candidates, Kevin aspires to clearly communicate all of his positions. This may mean that you find some disagreement at times, but he's proud that the electorate can confidently know exactly where he stands. Kevin has also vowed to post the reasoning behind all of his votes both on this website and on his social networking pages.
Dedicated to a Local Boulder
One of the elements that makes Boulder so special is its unique local culture. Whether its the shops and restaurants, quirky traditions or interesting characters, Kevin believes we should embrace local Boulder. He personally lives out these values by admamantly supporting local business, actively participating in local events and giving preference to local clients.
Dedicated to a Prosperous Future
As the pace of change increases, it becomes commensurately more important that our leaders anticipate the needs of the future. This is particicularly true in Boulder, where our prosperity depends upon the web-, med- and renewable-tech industries. Kevin is a web designer who follows these advancements closely, knows the industry needs and can guide the city toward more innovative solutions.
Dedicated to Simple, Sound Policy
It is Kevin's firm belief that good legislation is simple legislation ... and that great governments focus on core services in order that they can provide exceptional quality. Unfortunately, recent legislation indicates that this belief is not shared by all. Kevin has carefully considered city priorities and will focus on a number of basic services in dire need of attention.
Dedicated to Renewable Energy
As a co-founder of B100 Research, Kevin has the pleasure of applying his web design and marketing skills toward promoting renewable energy. B100 not only offers free online tools for biodiesel producers, but also provides in-depth consulting for biodiesel startups and is helping to bring patent-pending waste oil containers to market.
Dedicated to Alternative Transport
Alternative transportation is not only enviormentally friendly, its also the most inclusive and least expensive means of getting around. As someone who sold his car upon moving to Boulder, Kevin knows the opportunities and limitations of multimodal systems. Through smart design, we can accomodate pedestrians, bicycles, buses and cars without conflict.
Dedicated to Sustainability
Kevin believes in leading by example and - when it comes to sustainability - one would be hard pressed to question whether he's living up to that standard. In addition to getting around by bicycle, Kevin also lives in an efficiency apartment, keeps his energy bill below $20 per month, buys wind credits and lives a [nearly] zero-waste lifestyle.
